Free Publications and Mailing List

Major Publications

To access Federal Student Aid’s publications, videos, and infographics in electronic format, visit StudentAid.gov/resources. Not sure which publications are right for your students? Refer to our fact sheet that lays out Federal Student Aid publications and associated audiences.

Ordering From FSAPubs

The Federal Student Aid Publications Ordering System (FSAPubs) gives you access to a wealth of free publications and application tools that explain our programs. You will find the resources that can help you identify and obtain the financial aid for which your students qualify.

Here's how to use FSAPubs:

Step One: Join our mailing list
If you do not have a mailing list (ML) number or you're not sure whether you do, call FSAPubs at 1-800-394-7084. ML numbers are available to high schools, TRIO and GEAR UP programs, libraries, and nonprofits (which include school districts, associations, tribal governments, etc.).

Having a mailing list number does not mean that Federal Student Aid publications will automatically be mailed to you. Instead, you must order what you need as you need it (see Step Two below).

Having a mailing list number does mean that you will receive notices (by e-mail, postal mail, or both) about important changes to the federal student aid programs or application process. We urge you to keep your information updated so that we can reach you. (Check your account information by logging on using your ML number at www.FSAPubs.gov and clicking on Account Management on the left side of the screen.)

Step Two: Order free forms and publications
Using your ML number as identification, you can order the following free items (and more) at www.FSAPubs.gov or by e-mailing orders@fsapubs.gov:

  • College Preparation Checklist and Spanish version: Lista de preparación para los estudios universitarios
  • Do You Need Money for College? - Federal Student Aid at a Glance and Spanish version: ¿Necesita dinero para la universidad?
  • Your Federal Student Loans and Spanish version: Préstamos federales para estudiantes
  • FAFSA on the Web Worksheet and Spanish version: Planilla de preparación para FAFSA en la Web
