Materials and Resources You Need to Conduct a Successful Workshop

Below are links to the NT4CM training materials, resources and additional information. Remember, this training is not intended to supplant any successful program you already conduct in your state. You may choose to use all, some, or none of the NT4CM modules. If you are conducting a training program that is not part of the official NT4CM training, you may use the content of this curriculum, but you may not use the "look and feel." In other words, you must place the content into your own PowerPoint or Word template and not use the NT4CM logo or the names of the NT4CM sponsors.

Instructor's Guide: PDFs contain a brief summary of the module's objectives, an outline of the module, relevant handouts, and in some cases a verbatim script.

PowerPoint Presentation: PowerPoint files contain the actual presentation for that module.

Participant's Manual: PDFs contain the PowerPoint presentation formatted to three slides a page with lines for notes and relevant handouts for that module.

Questions and Webinar: If you have any questions on accessing or using the training materials, please contact NT4CM@ed.gov. A detailed webinar is avaliable for your review. To view the webinar, click on the links below.

Certificates of Completion and Appreciation

A Certificate of Completion template for NT4CM training participants and a Certificate of Appreciation template for NT4CM trainers are now available. Each template is signed by the Steering Committee members and has a place for inserting the participant's or trainer's name and a place for the State Coordinator's signature. Click here to download the certificate.

State Coordinators will be responsible for printing and distributing the certificates. If a State Coordinator would like to insert an electronic copy of their signature in the certificate and needs assistance, please send an email to NT4CM@ed.gov.

Evaluation Form

States are required to ask trainees to complete an NT4CM training evaluation form. This will help the Steering Committee assess the training and identify possible changes for the future. You may use either a paper evaluation form or an online evaluation:

  • If you choose to use the paper evaluation, you will need to perform the analysis of the data and provide the NT4CM Steering Committee with the results. To download the paper evaluation form, click here. To download the analysis sheet, click here. To download the instructions for the analysis sheet, click here.
  • If you choose to use the NT4CM online evaluation, we will provide a URL that you can provide to trainees. The NT4CM online evaluation tool will be avaliable in late summer.

Tips for Trainers

This document provides NASFAA's tips for trainers on conducting successful workshops.

Outreach Fact Sheets and Postcard Template

State Coordinators can use the NT4CM-provided fact sheets for outreach to encourage counselors and mentors to register for your state's NT4CM training sessions. Click here for a fact sheet in which you can insert contact information for your state coordinator, so that potential attendees can learn more about your state's training. If you need a generic fact sheet—for instance, if you want to advertise NT4CM at a conference with attendees from a number of states—you may use this PDF.

If you plan to mass-mail counselors in your state, you might wish to save on postage by using a postcard rather than sending a flyer in an envelope. Click here for a postcard template. If you decide to use it, you may insert your own information or contact us at NT4CM@ed.gov to let us know what information you would like inserted in order to personalize it for your state.

Continuing Education Units

The National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), one of the NT4CM Steering Committee organizations, is approved by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) to grant CEUs. However, it is crucial to understand that if you wish to offer CEUs to attendees, you must follow certain rules set out by NBCC. Click here for a fact sheet describing the process that trainers and state coordinators must follow.

Presenting Your Training via Webinar

In order to save money, some states are considering presenting webinars rather than face-to-face training. To help you hold a successful webinar, download our Webinar Planning Checklist and A Guide to Planning a Webinar.
